Commissions
A commissioned painting is a conversation before it is an artwork. Below is how the process usually runs, though it bends to suit the piece.
How it works

01
Send an enquiry
Tell me the subject, roughly the size you have in mind, and your budget. Provide some reference photographs of the subject you may want to use. Photographs of the space help, but are not essential.
02
We talk it through
I will come back with a recommendation on size, medium and framing, a firm quote, and an honest sense of the timeline.
03
Reference and study
For landscapes I paint on location where I can. For portraits and interstate subjects I work from reference we choose together, and send you a photograph of a small study or studies before committing to the final piece.
04
The painting, framed and delivered
You will see progress photographs at two or three points. Changes at the study stage are easy; changes at the end are not, so we get it right early. Pastels are framed under glass with a spacer, using conservation materials, and delivered anywhere in Australia.
Pricing and timing
Commissions start at $850 for a small work (approximately 30 × 40 cm) and scale with size and complexity. Portraits are quoted individually. A 50% deposit secures your place in the schedule; the balance is due on approval of the finished piece. Most commissions take six to ten weeks from deposit to delivery.
